The Christmas Dilemma

When we say Yes even though we clearly feel the No

We all know the feeling: Agreeing to something too soon and the Yes that appeals to be out of our mouth quicker than we could even think. Especially during Christmas time, we have a certain understanding of how things should be and finally reach the peak of our people pleasers career in the misbelief we must fulfil our own false expectations or the expectations of others. And sooner as we think we start our own final sellout. Why is this happening and why do we even think or feel that we must earn the appreciation of others? Christmas - the time for love and family- no doubt, the idea is wonderful, but the reality looks differently for so many. Hurried and buried under hundreds of Christmas cards and wrapping paper on the go to the next Christmas dinner. And why? Because this is how it should be or because it has always been like this. Do we really want this? And are we really present for our children during this time as we planned it to be? In the end we think, we are only doing it for them... One thing is for sure: The magic of the Christmastime is of short endurance and the light in the children's eyes will diminish more and more the older they get. This is why it is so important to be extra mindful and focus on the most essential- the children and the nearest and dearest! around us. Keep calm, plan timeouts, and ONLY do what you really want to do!
